What is the Center for Sustainable Change?

A:

The Center for Sustainable Change builds on decades of work by our President, social scientist and author, Dr. Roger C. Mills (formerly of the Health Realization Institute and R.C. Mills and Associates).  Dr. Mills has been at the forefront of developing and implementing this paradigm in community work and corporate settings over the last two decades.

Dr. Mill’s work has been featured on the Today Show and PBS in helping to turn around inner city communities. Previous pilot-demonstration projects—funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, the California Wellness Foundation, and major private foundations—have generated international attention, and inspired the book Modello: A Story of Hope for the Inner City and Beyond. The impact of Principles-based training is wide ranging and profound, and includes: documented declines in drug abuse, crime and school drop-out rates; and significant positive impacts on symptoms of chronic mental illness and depression.

"The purpose of [this approach] is not to force a change in my thinking... but just to be aware of it, even though it might not feel positive or 'good' in the moment. Clarity or wisdom will come, and that is the saving grace for me."
